Cutting the exhaust

I had the LongShots on my old FXDX. I took them off and had the local speed shop cut them down on their chop saw and it didn't flake the chrome or anything. I then took the stock baffles and cut them down to about 4". You'll have to drill a new hole for the baffle screws but that's a simple job. I didn't notice any performance change at all from original to shortened. They were quite a bit louder after the mods but I'm sure that was because of the shortened baffles. Here's a pic of the FXDX. They couldn't be much shorter because of how far back the mounting brackets were. I'm not sure how far back the mounts are on the softails for comparison.

Got a set of V&H straight shot slip ons in very good condition, only about 2k miles on them. Off my 09 Fatboy so I don't know if they'd bolt up to your bike but if so I'll let them go at a real good price. See my listing the the Softail Parts classifieds.

Ok I didn't have to cut them they were slip ons so I just pulled them off but now there is no mounting bracket to hold the exhaust do u think it will be ok also my bike is fuel injected do y'all think it will run rich or lean

If you're just running the head pipes it will run and sound like crap. All Longshots are 2 piece pipes. I pulled the back half off, then cut them shorter and reinstalled. It's hard to see from the picture I posted but they separated directly below the starter.
