Are the Outlaw permanent oil filters more expensive than a disposable oil filter? Yes. But you'll never buy another oil filter again, a permanent oil filter like the DK Custom Products Outlaw is easy to remove, install, and clean; the only consumable you'll need to replace is the quad ring; I've been getting typically 5 to 7 oil changes before I've needed to replace the quad ring.
The discussion of oil filters always turns to micron ratings; HD filters are rated on percentages and averages. The Outlaw permanent filter is rated not on a 'nominal' rating but rather on an 'absolute' rating. If you were to Google up 'absolute vs nominal' oil filter ratings you'd have hours of reading on the topic but basically a 10-micron rated paper filter may be letting particles 100 microns and larger through on the first pass. The 304 medical grade stainless steel cloth used in the Outlaw filter is consistent across the entire surface and is rated at 35 microns, meaning nothing larger than 35 microns will pass through the material; it is an absolute rating, with paper filters, the micron rating is just an average based on multiple passes.
The discussion of oil or oil filters can sometimes become controversial, my goal is to present you with an alternative to consider

"Besides doing a superior job of cleaning and cooling the oil, independent testers doing back-to-back dyno comparisons of these reusable oil filters and an ordinary disposable, charted as much as an 8-horsepower bump along with 10 more lb-ft of torque."
