it is possible that i am just a tard or something but i cant seem to find an oil filter for my bike at any of the usual places, canadian tire, napa, auto parts bla bla bla. i would bet money these places have a filter for my bike but they cant find it in the system and my google fu seems to have failed me on this subject, so my question is.....what oil filter can/should i use for my 2011 blackline? (the 96B engine) for this oil change a harley dealership is not an option.
please and thank you in advance
thank you soft 02 for your time and the link, they want too much info just to ask a question or do a search. (but i still appreciate it)
when i was in napa today the guy found a part number from some other bike did a cross reference and came up with a wix filter that was not in stock but most importantly to me he did not seem very sure of it and as a result neither did i.
being the second oil change on this bike (first was the dealer/break in) and MY first oil change on this bike i need to feel i have made the right choice.
p.s. i dont know what bike that is beside your name but it looks sweet!
thanks guys, i really do appreciate the time and effort. i do feel as tho i am letting/asking other people do the work for me and that is generaly not my style....
but it seems no matter where i look i cant get a straight answer, the link machinistmate posted did give me a K&N part number but it says it is for a 2012 blackline (103) does anyone know if that is the same for the 2011 (96) ?
i would happily use a harley filter if i had one and when i get to a dealership i may buy several.
the local (hour away) dealership will NOT see any of my money again. the dealership i do use is 2 1/2 hours away and if i go there the bike goes with me as i need some work done anyway but i would like to drive my bike there not truck it in (i dont have a truck anyway) and if i want to keep my warranty i need to change my oil now
lazy me, i was kinda hoping someone would say "i use bla bla filter from X common store" if the K&N filter for the 2012 blackline is the same for the 2011 i can use that number to cross reference for other companies if that one is not avaliable.... i am happy to do that i just need to know if they use the same filter :-)
I have gotten stuff really quick online, not sure how things are for North of the border. If you go with a non hd filter you should make sure it has filtration down to the 5 microns hd requires
you are right bronxbill, the filter is the same for both. ended up getting the k&n model 171 in black, and after removing the other filter i like the nut on the end of that k&n filter.... i may try a wix filter next time as i am told they are amsoil and well made :-)
thank you to everyone who responded to my question. if this forum had a rep system you would all be getting some rep for your effort!
