Auxiliary lamp independant control wire harness question
I just bought one of those auxiliary lamp independant control wire harness kits from the dealer and went outside this morning to see whats its going to take to put it in and OMG what a hassle it looks like. I chased the front fender light wire and it ends up under the tank. I began googling and reading in how I can get this thing on, ended up in the touring section but no help on my 04 heritage.
OK my question is that can I remove the front and back bolts on the gas tank and lift it up a bit to see under it and try to pull the connectors into view without having to go thru all the hoops of removing the tank all together as I saw in a pic in the touring section. I don't want to do the homemade version of splicing and I spent the bux on the harness, and I don't want to go to the dealer if I can avoid it.
Yeah, you can do exactly as you said. Just slip the tank back a little and the connector should be visible.
+1 at least give that a try and see if gives you enough access to the harness. Just watch when putting the tank back down that you don't push down the front to hard and scratch the top of your rocker cover...don't ask how I know this.
Its a piece of cake. Remove both front and rear tank bolts, disconnect the fuel line, gently lift and pull the tank back. BR has a video walk you thru the process.
