Default Crossbones - solo seat recommendations?

There are plenty of threads on this already, but none that answer my specific question (at least that I could find).

I want to get a solo leather seat for my xbones and be able to swap it easily for the stock seat. So, I want to use the stock mounting brackets and assembly without having to mod or fab anything (too much).

The idea is to be able to use the thinner leather for short hops and revert to the stock for longer hauls.

Anybody out there done this or have advice on an approach?

So you want a seat that isn't made by Harley but utilizes the stock Crossbones springs and mounting hardware? You are aware that Harley makes two other sits that bold right up to the Crossbones, right? Otherwise, Shadetree Fabrications makes a lot of stuff specifically for the Crossbones with seats being one of them. You can order just a seat pan and have it padded however you want or you can have them cover it for you. They tool the leather and everything. I'm sure there are a couple of other companies out there that make a direct replacement seat for the Bones but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

If you dont want the springer seat you can change it to any softail seat. I have a 2008 nighttrain and my brother has a 2009 cross bones and when I put on my new fender (NOT PICTURED) I gave him my badlander seat for 2 up and he bought a softtail solo from Harley for everyday (he didnt like the springer seat said it was too high for him to reach ground comfortably.) Of course I did tell him to lower it but he doesnt listen.

Yes, I certainly have. The 15" x 11" seats made by Anvil Customs will fit the stock Crossbones dimensions perfectly. Talk with Ryan Wasson. You can use your stock springs and your stock front hinge bracket, and your stock front hinge pin. You'll see that there are 2 tabs on your stock front hinge bracket. These 2 tabs need to fit into a bracket you need to make, which is simply a piece of flat steel about 2" wide and about 7" long with 4 holes drilled into it. I've already made a couple extras in case I wanted to order a different style seat, or two.

Look at the Anvil Customs website. On the bottom of the seat you'll see two bolts on the front underside of the seat. The bolts will go through 2 of the holes on your bracket, and the remaining 2 holes in your bracket will accomodate the 2 tabs on your stock front hinge bracket.

Order and extra set of stock springs and an extra front hinge braket. This way you can easily swap back and forth and not have to change any hardware. Easy!

I was looking at getting this from NYC Choppers direct bolt http://www.nycchoppers.com/index.cfm...9&ParentCat=10

I wouldn't recommend the seat from NYC Choppers. I haven't been too comfortable with what I've read about quality and customer service. The qualifier is that it is based on what I've read, and not based on experience. Do yourself a favor and check out Anvil Customs, and then talk to Ryan Wasson.

I agre with Jaburg. I had ordered something on ebay that was from nycchoppers. It was supposed to fit my bike and didn't and dealing with the nychoppers customer service wasn't really a help at all.

Just put the 1925 seat on my scoot after countless miles with sleepy nuts from all the bobber bolt on seats I have tried. It's nice to have it hold me in and have the comfort to ride for miles. I guess it looks pretty good too.

I agree. A few weeks back I had a road-trip, 240 mls (no highway) and no pain.
