The course will help you get your feet wet and teach the proper way to ride. Then practice in a safe environment (lower traffic areas-avoid interstate at first etc)...It also can help you get a discount on your insurance.

Haha, it's looking like it's going to be the fatboy. Now the hard part is waiting until I finish that MSF course!

Good deal, I think the MSF course will be enough. I live in Eastern Kentucky, so the whole "low traffic" area isn't going to be hard to find lmao.

Thanks for the posts, fellas. Btw, if I get a Sundowner seat and some saddlebags to switch on to the fatty for long distance, does it make for a good distance bike?

It is definitely a very comfortable riding position. So I would say yes, it can go the distance.

I wouldn´t think twice on going on a long trip on a fatboy, but it´s up to You to say how comfortable You want to be. I ride 10+ days on my long hauls with my bike set up as in the sig. Just need to strech my legs on every fill up.

What the MSF course won't teach you is how heavy that big twin is. Just be prepared for that.

When you get it home, have a strong friend spot you in the garage while you lean it over to it's limits. Don't wait until you get on some uneven pavement at a stop sign in front of 20 people, haha.
