Default 1999 Softail exhaust switch

Switched from vance and hines long shots to short shots last night. Bike fired right up. Went to ride today, she fired right up, let sit for a few minutes to warm up and then died she died. Do i need to recalibrate, tune...etc. Was told possibly need new jets or plugs. Been searching the site cant come up with anything...Please help, any suggestions don't want to put the old scratched ones back on...

I was just talking about getting diff exhaust with my indy friday and he told me to pick anything but v/h short shots for my bike he said they sux for making any power at all. Hes been trying to talk me into 2into1 thunderheaders for a month now.

Yeah a few times...turns over just won't fire.

Doubt if its from the change of exhaust. Did anything get unhooked changing the exhaust? Did you shut the gas off? How scratched up are the long shots?

yah, there's no way the exhaust is causing your issues, you have other issues going on there, check the basics, fuel, spark. Exhaust will not cause a no start condition, and there is no need to re tune, if the bike ran fine with the other set of pipes.

The new pipes are shortstacks w/ out baffle. Could the back pressure or lack of back pressure cause the plugs to foul? Tried to start again today and sh'e a no go. Bike was running like a champ prior to the switch. Nothing was unplugged, again she started up fine let her sit for a few min to warm up and she died, still won't start. Thinking about going back to the original pipes. Any further help

Changing the pipes back will not help. Are you getting fuel?

yea, getting fuel. Took the air cover off to check that. Going to change the plugs tonight...

Put the old pipes back on. Got new plugs, getting spark, carb is getting fuel, have good compression, battery is fully charged...I'm at a loss. Any one have any further ideas???
