Hey Mal74,I see you have mag wheels on your Heritage, thats something I may do if my spoked wheels get rusty, like they did on my 96 Wide Glide. Ive been using http://www.eezox.com/gun-care.html my favorite gun protector on mine,Im hoping they will hold up. I ride in all kinds of weather.
It took quite a few squirts to get some to come out of the bearings the first time I greased her. HD has the tube of grease made just for the neck bearings, I got one and and leave it in the grease gun I bought just for that job.
Don't be surprised when you go through half a tube of grease the first time you want to grease your neck bearings. The factory only puts grease on the bearings. You have to fill the whole neck with grease before you actually get it to the bearings.
Took 15 squirts before the grease in there started seeping out of the bottom. I bought the bike at 20k miles and it's got 40k now. This is the first time I've greased it. Hopefully everything in there is ok.
What's a good alternative to the official steering bearing grease? I bought it a couple times before and half of it liquifies over time and makes a big mess on the garage floor.
