Steering head grease fitting

There are quite a few people that feel using that grease fitting is a Waiste of time. Those bearings are like wheel bearings on your car and they last a long time. You grease them up on install and only if you have to re-pack them for whatever reason. There was a thread on this ( cant find it ) with a poll and I was surprised to see how many people feel its uneccesary to use that fitting but then it got me thinking.

It took quite a few squirts to get some to come out of the bearings the first time I greased her. HD has the tube of grease made just for the neck bearings, I got one and and leave it in the grease gun I bought just for that job.
I hit it every spring and at Oil change time.

imo...lucas "red and tacky #2" stays put. Temp rating 500 degrees. Fill the neck until grease comes out the top and bottom...both ends.
