I am moving to TN at the end of the summer, and heard that skid lid helmuts are legal there. However, I heard that they are now illegal to sell. Does anyone know where I can still get one? I have two ruptured discs in my neck, and can't take the weight of a typical helmut. In my current state which is Ohio, the wearing of a helmet is optional.
If you would prefer to PM me instead with any information you have, feel free.
Sorry to post this topic here, but I posted elsewhere on the forum but got no replies and very few views.

What are you calling a skid lid? Since you are saying they are illegal to sell...you must be talking about a novelty helmet...which are not legal in TN though a lot of people wear them ...and I have seen a lot of people get ticketed at roadblocks...not hard to find at all...I don't believe they are illegal to sell...just virtually no motorcycle shops sell them...afraid of a lawsuit.
+1 for Skullcrush, very nice, fits like a glove, but air circulates and strong like bull.
Kevlar + Carbon Fiber... not cheap tho, but safer than yur average Non DOT Beanie!
Hey, thanks for all the feedback guys. I can't remember where I heard that skid lids were illegal, but I'm just glad that they are available since my neck cannot comfortably support very much weight for any length of time.

I'm referring to the half helmets that are very light and fit close and tight to the head. In other words, they don't sit really high on your head and stick out very much, fitting a little more like a ball cap. I heard there is a place in Daytona Beach that sells them, and actually goes by the measurements of your head so that the fit is very low and narrow profile. Does anyone know the name of this company, or better yet how to get in touch with them?
