i have an 06 softail deluxe. i put my bike away for winter
2 months ago, i changed the oil at that time and brought
it up to normal levels. i was doing some work on my scoot
today and because i heard softails will drain back into the
sump i checked my oil. it did drain into the sump as i just have
oil up to the fill level showing. my question is, if when i fire it
up in the spring is it safe to do so if there is no oil in the tank?
yes it's safe. once you fire it up again, the oil level in the tank will go back to normal. it is for this reason that you're supposed to check oil levels when the bike is warm.
