Default Mod Question

So the V&H Big Shot Staggereds showed up on Monday. The PowerCommander V and intake from Fuel Moto show up Friday, doing the work first thing Saturday morning?

Any tips or things to watch out for? Also, anyone running this combination of their Softail that can let me know what expect for gains performance wise?

Thanks,

Mike

I'm running a SE heavy breather, power commander 3, and V&H big shots staggered on my TC 88. All installed quite easily. The Harley directions are pretty thorough and easy to follow. I noticed a decent low end gain from the hole shot. Def gave the bike more umph off the line. Mid range has better throttle response with no dead spots. Idles better and sounds 100 % better.

Thanks for the info, i really am looking forward to getting this done It has been a year since I bought the bike and I am tired of it sounding like a golf cart. I actually called a dealer to get a quote about installing everything, and was told "We don't install the Power Commander. Your bike won't be street legal with it." When I mentioned that the $460 SERT he was trying to sell me isn't street legal either I got silence.

Get a couple exhaust gaskets before you start tearing things apart. You may/may not need them but they are cheap insurance. Your bike is pretty new so you may be able to get the O2 sensors off without too much trouble. I had to get new sensors cause they would not come off!

I did pick up the exhaust gaskets per the V&H install instructions. Thanks for the tip.

Clean your pipes REALLY good before you put them on with something like windex or anything that will take ANY oils off of the pipes. Most don't know this but the 1st time they get real hot with even oil from your hands on them it can stain them. It is barely noticible but it does happen and can rob you of a lusterous shine from this day forward.

When I do chrome pipes I wear latex gloves to keep finger prints off them.

I know you are putting them on a Heritage and I put them on a Fatboy...but I think the concept is pretty much the same. If you remove the floorboard or loosen it to the point where you can swing it down a bit, you will have an easier time getting the pipes to wrap around the engine into the exhaust ports. I know mine were in the way by just a hair and I ended up moving them out of the way.

The A/C is pretty straight forward...you will just need to figure out how to finish it off with a decent cover. The Power commander I can't give any advice for since I went with the Power Vision.
