Comments like this are as worn out as an only woman on an island of men!! They also remind me of just how many people out there do not have a clue. If you swap out the choked up stock exhaust for a set of true duals you will loose power? You say on a Heritage. What about other models? How much power will I loose if I replace the stock exhaust on my Deluxe with a set of true duals?
A+!!! Some people spread more misinformation than the dealers do!!!
Ok, can't believe I'm saying this but after spending several hours today reading hdforums and looking at pics, the 2:1 exhausts are beginning to grow on me. I love the look of the true duals hands down, but from looking at several photos of Heritage's with FatCats, I am wandering if I should go that route. One thing I like about the 2:1 is the uniqueness, cause I have seen no one around here with a softail running a 2:1. Opinions welcomed, lol.
I've got duals on my deluxe. Never had an issue with riding two up with them and the sound is incredible. I traded in a 2010 streetbob for this 07 deluxe and I actually believe I have more power with my deluxe than I did on my bob with stage 1 and rush slip ons. My only issue was getting used to the heat on my left leg. Took a very tiny ride to the local convenience store today with shorts on - dumb me - and got a bit of a burn when parking in my driveway. Other than that, LOVE THEM!!
Thanks challutz and lockednloaded, thats exactly the type of information I'm looking for. From looking at alot of pics of true duals on a softail, the routing of the left pipe is my main concern, as well as the heat issue on the left side. I was looking today at the left side of my bike and everything looks so cramped together, it's amazing a pipe can even be routed through there. Both of you have great looking bikes BTW.
Heres a better shot of your left side, to be honest my right side is still hotter than the left , Oil tank I guess and as for the old lady she hasnt once complained of one side being hotter than the other , the only thing she complains about is being hungry. Hope this helps
I forgot to mention that I actually have Vance and Hines head pipes and just added the samson slipons. I think the V&H left side pipe hugs the primary cover a little better than the samson. Check it out for yourself
I run sampson true duals with 28.5 inch baffles, they are a little loud but I think not a problem on the long trips.
I must add, to those that said u would not lose power... bullshit. I have both, before and after dyno sheets. I had stage one, sert with rush 2" slip-ons, dyno tuned to 74.56 horses. Last winter I had this new exhaust installed, dyno'd my bike went to 58 horsies..... they re-dyno tuned it after I freaked about it, all they could get was 60 horses. I lost 15 horsies going to this exhaust! I called sampson help line, the gal I talked to said it should have not happened but she would talk to someone else about it and call me back. That was several months ago, still waiting for that call....
I love the looks and sound of this system, but it cost way to much to turn my bike into a snail. They will probably be up for sale next winter when I go with a different system.
Id have to agree with Frozen you will lose a little I did my cams to gain a little back so im happy with mine now. As far as the noise on my setup I dont think its loud at all with the baffles in I can hear my radio no problem at all even at highway speed. But you can forget about that with those baffles out man my ears were ringing when I got back from a ride after taking them out.
