I have a 2008 Heritage I purchased new in 08, and since purchasing it, the only mods I have done is install a set of Rush Slip Ons shortly after getting the bike. Finally after four years, I am getting around to adding some more mods. One thing I want to do is add a set of Samson True Duals with the Longtails. I have searched this site as well as various other sites for weeks reading tons of info and looking at all the pics I could find of Heritages with true duals. I am considering the 28.5" and the 33". Looking for input on which would look best while running the Heritage Saddle Bags as I can't decide which route to take. Also, would it be a good idea to go ahead and do a Stage 1 with the exhaust? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the responses guys. Going to begin searching around today to see where I can get the best pricing on the stuff I need to do a Stage 1. tq745- I think I like the 33's the best also.
Ive got the 36" mini cholos and love them...cheapest place I could find them was bkrider....2 week wait time for samson to build them was the hardest part of the purchase.....but the sound will put a big smile on your face...I would probably go with 33" if your not looking to use hardbags in the future.
NO YOU WON'T!!! Compared to stock with a Stage 1 you will not lose anything. This is the biggest misconception out there! Granted, it may not have as much low-end torque as a 2 into 1, but you will not "lose power".
I have heard and read about this as well. In fact, I was considering getting a set of Big Shot Longs with the crossover pipe, but the looks of the duals won me over. Guess i'm a little old school, but my intentions are to make my Heritage look as old school as I can, and I think the duals will suit it well. Possibly I may lose some torque, but after all I have no intentions to drag race my Heritage so if I have to trade a little torque for looks, I can.
On another note, those of you with duals and passenger floor boards, do the pipes come uncomfortably close to the floorboards? I ride two up quite a bit, and don't want to create an additional hazard for my passenger. I've looked for pics but have been unable to see any close up shots that show just how close the pipes are to the passenger floor boards, especially on the left side of the bike.
Comments like this are as worn out as an only woman on an island of men!! They also remind me of just how many people out there do not have a clue. If you swap out the choked up stock exhaust for a set of true duals you will loose power? You say on a Heritage. What about other models? How much power will I loose if I replace the stock exhaust on my Deluxe with a set of true duals?
