I have a rear wheel that has 2 ugly balance weights attached to two of the spokes. I don't see any markings on them to tell me the weight. I know the answer is to weigh them but can you tell by looking at them by the size what weight they are? I don't have a scale that can weigh in ounces and sub ounces unless I can find someone dealing weed..
I don't want to turn this into a Dyna Beads thread...
I know you dont want to turn this into a Dyna Bead thread but toss those ugly *** weights and install the beads. Balances way better. Then you wont have to find a dealer to weigh the weights. HAHAHA.
Don't know what you have aginst Dyna beads, work better and tire lasts longer than any other way. I use a centramatic balancer on my rear wheel cuz it gets replaced all the time and I can avoid all the cussing the Dyna beads cause when installing.
The stick-on weight are commonly 1/4oz/7gm per segment. Now, this is just a guess, I would think that spoke weights are about the same as one segment of stick-ons......
What is it with this sub forum?.....Why do so many here feel the need to clutter threads with info specifically requested by the OP to be left out? He asked for some basic info without mention of a product he has no intension of using. The first three post are off topic......
I'm starting to think it's nothing but a bunch of brain dead 20 somethings floating around in here with nothing better to do than talk "Chit"........WTF....grow up.
This forum is/has become quite useless for quick and accurate info.
Guess what my Friend...I was exactly like you when it came to dynabeads for balancing the wheel...right up until I put the 260 tire on the back of my rocker and my buddy had just polished my wheel to look better than new...The tire mounter suggested it and I have to admit after 2000 miles I haven't noticed anything different at all except the half ton of missing weights stuck on the outside of my wheel. I'm a believer!! My buddy runs them and he cuts a hole in his tire when it needs to be changed, dumps them in a clean cup and puts them in the next tire WHEN mounting. Just a thought...
I'm not totally against Dyna Beads, I have read all the posts about how great they are so I wasn't looking for reconfirmation. I actually wound up taking one of the weights off and on the bottom side it was stamped 3/4 oz and there are 3 of them. 2 on one side and 1 on the other so I guess that's 2 1/4 oz total. I was just going to replace them with chrome stick on wheel weights. Look way better in my opinion.
No need to get physical out there guys, I appreciate all your replies...
