hi,
im installing the 422's on my xbones this weekend. ive scraped the forums and got basic install tips.
-use hammer box wrench to crack the stock bolt loose
-put 2nd jack under rear tire to spread out the shock to make easier to install
but, are there any other tips/tricks you can offer on the install?
also, looks like i bought the 422 HD (heavy duty) vs the 422 (normal).
i dont ride 2 up....but i am a big dude. 6'3...260
would i be ok with the HD?
Finally, the instructions on how to lower/raise the bike using the 422 bolts are pretty vague. can anyone clarify how i do this? or point me to a thread?
i want to LOWER my xboner by 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

thanks everyone!
Support the bike with a jack and then another under the rear tire to take the load off.
Back the nuts off the shock shafts all the way until you have one good thread showing. Then snug up the nuts on the back side. This will give you all she's got.

With the top nut on the stud all the way to the top (1 thread showing) and thelower nut tightened up against the mount the shock is at its longest and that is the lowest position the shocks can provide. With the 422 it will be about 2" lower than stock height Heritage, Fatboy, softail and about 1" lower than Deluxe, Slim
I'm running the 422 Heavy's for solo riding and they're fine. Soak the shocks bolts with WD40.
Things to remember:
1. The longer the shock, between mounting points, the lower the bike.
2. Ensure that both shocks are of equal length.
3. When adjusting the preload, turning the adjuster plate to the Right will Soften the ride.
