Default Progressive Suspension Install & PCIII

Ok I'm about to start my suspension install this week. Have my ride on Tuesday night and then I'm tearing it down in hope of doing the rear suspension, the front drop ins, PCIII and SE Intake by Friday.

Who's got the best method for doing the shocks?

What about the PCIII? I need the best mounting method for the stock seat.

Thanks guys

The job is doable with nothing more than two wrenches; 19mm for the rear bolts, and 17mm for the fronts. It would help to have the Snap-On dogbone adapter to properly torque the rear bolts, but so far, "tight enough" has worked fine on my bike. I also used a Craftsman motorcycle jack, and a regular floor jack.

-Put the bike up on the jack. Use your box-end 19mm on one of the rear bolts, and wedge it against the ground (so the box end is on the bolt, and the open end is touching the ground). Make sure it's going the right direction, and lower the bike.....Instant breaker bar, and you won't break a sweat. The torque spec is about 130 lb-ft. Do the same thing on the other side.

-Jack the bike back up, and support the rear tire with the floor jack. Remove the rear shock bolts.

-Use the 17mm to remove the front bolts. You may have to use the preload tool to keep the entire shock assembly from turning.

-Pull the shock out, and put the Progressive in. Prior to installing the new shocks, adjust them for ride height. You may have to diddle around with the floor jack so that the new shocks go in properly, especially if you've lowered them.

-Bolt everything back up. Use anti-seize and Lock-Tite on the rear bolts.I used the wrench/ground trick to snug the rear bolts, but you've really got to be careful doing this so you don't shear them off by dropping a 700 pound motorcycle on them.

-Adjust your preload and ride. I found that the Harley spanner is much easier to use than the Progressive one.

Good luck!
