Default Q on Changing Rear Shocks

Getting ready to tear into the scoot to put on the Shotgun, chrome swingarm, mamoth spokes, etc. and I was looking over the service manual to make sure I had all the tools. The rear shock section calls for a SRES24 Span-on adapter to remove the rear bolt that holds the shocks to the rear fork. What did you guys use? Anything else suitable? It also calls for a Snap-on torque computer SS-306G when reinstalling to calculate the proper torque value. What did you guys use? How much torque?

Thanks

I used a boxed end wrench to remove them, they were tight! I used the same boxed end wrench to put them back on with some red locktite. instead of torqueing them cause I didnt have that tool I just wacked the wrench a few good times with the hammer, they aint moving.

Those bolts are a PITA to get out. I cut a cheap 3/4" box wrench in half and used a 3 lb hammer to get em out. I did that so I could get the wrench in there while the bike was oin the ground. They are installed with permanent loc-tite, and fight the whole way out. Putting them back in I put blue loc-tite on them and gave them a tap with a hammer. That adapter allows the proper tourque, but I wasn't goin to buy it to use it once or twice. Those are shoulder bolts and they bottom out on the frame, not the shock. Make sure the washers move freely when you are done.

Jack the bike up. Put a box-end wrench on the shock bolt and wedge it against the ground. Lower the bike off the jack. Presto, the shock bolt is loose. When you put them back on, use Loctite and a rubber mallet to re-tighten.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Looks like I won't worry too much about not having an exact torque requirement and just make sure it is tight and use locktight.

Appreciate the help...
