The fender itself is thick, couldn't tell you what gauge exactly and the struts are also very heavy duty looking, unless your girl is 200+ I think you'd be alright. Like others have said would probably just need a pillon pad or at least a towel/small pillow for temporary. I have this kit on my Slim S and it turned out great, no passenger seat though, I wanted the lines of the bike to be as clean as possible and my girl doesn't really like riding motorcycles anyways.
