Default Quick ? about tire detailing

Hi all just looking to get some input from everyone
I have an 07 fxstc with the 200 rear tire and I'm wondering what you folks use to get your tires looking good? I'm so tired of spending hours detailing all my tins and chrome and even polishing up that big ole aluminum rear wheel and then having that dull black looking tire sticking out like a sore thumb
I know the auto tire detailing stuff is a big no no on bike tires and with such a short sidewall it would look kinda dumb just blacking that sidewall and still having the meat of the tire looking dull
Any tips or tricks you can clue me into as to how to get that big tire looking as clean and new as the rest of my bike
Thanks
Sean

I use black magic on the sidewall. Its a clear liquid that gives a nice shine to the tires.Just put it on the rag and wipe the side down and be careful not to get it on the tread and use sparingly. Never had any problems. Anything you put on the tread is going to cause problems.

i have several product choices, but the key is to keep the stuff off of the tread... like tracey87, after applying i let it dry and then wipe it down. spray your product on a sponge, not directly on the tire. you can get more shine by more coats with the same process.

Try Mothers "Back to Black" It is a dressing for the likes of moldings on car as an example. It works well on Tires. I have the WW and it dresses em up nice and pretty.

So I'm guessing there is nothing that can clean up the meat of the tire without leaving it slick?
I haven't measured to be exact but the sidewalls on my 200 tire can't be but about 2 inches give or take leaving the tread area as the "meat" and very noticeable from about any view other than head on especially with the bobtail fender
I was hoping some of you had found a way to make that part look "detailed" without using anything that would leave it slick and therefore dangerous to ride on

"303 Aerospace Protectant" Can be found at marine and camper dealers. Can be used on tires, seats, foot pegs and grips. Have been using it for years on the boat and than started using it on the bike. Even list using it on the tires.

Pretty much! Unless you're gonna put it on a pedestal and admire it. I like my sidewalls to look nice, but I'm REAL careful about dressing them. I think the tread is sposed to get dirty. JMO.

Every tire detailer product I have ever seen says not for use on a motorcycle on the lable. The reason is that unlike a car, we use all of the surface of the tire. The detailers make the tire slippery and lowers traction considerably. I use soap and water and just let the tires do thier job.

Ive used Westley's WW cleaner for 45yrs and still do.

Read the directions on the can.
I put the bike on the lift, wet the tire first, spray a little as I turn the wheel only on bottom so I don't get over spray on bike.

then with a tire brush that's wet I scrub the tire and rinse it off, One side at a time and one wheel at a time.

Then I have a sponge applicator http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meguiars-T...-/170614043437 That I got from the auto store and do only the tire sides with whatever tire dressing U like.
