Default Tips

Since the "Clay bar" thread I started a little while ago I got 16 private messages asking for advice. I thought that was pretty cool, I am not the only one willing to spend 6 or 8 hours in a hot garage detailing my bike. The 2 most common questions had to do with cleaning and waxing places that you just can't reach and then removing wax from the flat black of engine cases as an example or other places it might build up. You can knock this out with 1 trip to your hardware store, I get mine at Ace. In the paint section where the brush's are they have the brush's with the foam at the end of them rather then bristles. You can reach into almost any spot with those to clean or wax. Wax of course, I use liquid. Just dab the foam end of the brush in wax and you can get to almost any spot and in removing the wax use the same size brush only start with a clean one. For removing wax from almost any place in the "grout" section of the hardware store they have a pack of brush's with 3 in them. 1 stanless, 1 brass and 1 nylon brush. They are about the size of a toothbrush. You can remove the wax in seems, cracks, around nuts and bolts, spokes and so on. The cost of 2 of the foam brushs and the 3 pack of bristled brush's, under 5 bucks. My bike looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. All the places you see dirt on a bike, I have none. All the places you might see wax biult up or in seems, I have none. It is work but your bike will love you for it and it will attract crowds wondering how you keep it so clean.
