Default Tightening axle issue

Hey everyone, ran into a small problem today and needing a second set of eyes on the situation. I put new tires on the bike today, set the belt deflection and lined up both sides of the axle. When I went to tighten up the axle nut the right side of the axle keeps moving back throwing off the axle alignment. The bike is a '08 Night Train. The axle adjusters are just a bolt on each side of swingarm that screw against the spacers. I tried chocking the wheel while tightening but no dice. I've had it off before and never an issue. I did however flip flop the axle this time to ease installation. I've read this is acceptable but now wondering if this is causing my problem though I don't see how it could be. Any advice is greatly appreciated, maybe I just need to chill out for a bit and go at it later. Getting pretty hot and miserable in the garage today.

I would look at the axle spacers, there is a slot the bolt goes in and one side may not be lined up with the bolt.

Thanks for the quick reply. These spacers don't have any slots on them. You have the big one on the left and the small one on the right that goes between the swingarm and caliper mount. The adjusters just tighten up against them to push the axle. All that's on the spacers is 2 little grooves that run around the outside.

Welcome to the Forum.
As stated above, end of screw fits into slot in spacer. set your belt adjustment, leave the adjuster bolts snug against the spacer, tighten axle.
Oh, yeah, if you don't have a service manual, get one.
