Default Another "Issue" with Kuryakyn's Pro R hypercharger

Ok, so first it was the butterfly valves causing my MAP sensor to go out. (EFI model)

Now, it seems that the extra scoop on top of the hypercharger does not have a proper filter element. I'm accepting my part of the blame for not cleaning the filter, but I've been riding for a year (October was a year) and I have 25k on the bike / filter, and have not cleaned the filter. (I thought it was part of the stealers checks when I bring it in for service) Anyway, the intake (going into the engine) was FILTHY ! I was called by the dealership and was told how the intake was so dirty, and that they suggested changing out the intake (Swapping out the whole hypercharger for a S.E. intake of some sort) I polietly declined at this time, but wanted to pass along what was going on.

If I had to do it over, I'd walk the other way on the hypercharger, or atleast get one of the older models, where the K&N filter is the only filter, instead of a "sponge".

I have the regular pro hypercharger on my other bike for 10 years, no issues. But, I clean/oil it every winter (roughly 5-6k miles). I also left the butterflies wide open at all times. Seemed to run better that way. Hope it works out for you.

We have an op with a god complex who won't let the dealer take care of his warantee claim,so in the end he is just costing himself ride time.
We have the boys asking why the op believes the sun rises and sets for him.
This thread is hillarious.

A k&n filter is an oiled gauze or sponge. Just oil the one you have and carry on.
