I'm 6'2" and have the WO502 12.5 inchers on my Heritage. My hands are still below my shoulders and I couldn't be happier with the fit and feel while riding.
I'm 6'4"......I have 16" on 2" risers....they are shoulder heigth.....Truthfully I wished I'd gone with 18"
I have a set of 16s with 1.5" risers I am putting on my Deluxe. I am trying to figure out what size windshield to buy and I want the height to be at least as tall as the apes. Do your apes sit below the windsheild or above it??? Can I go with the low profile windshield (3" lower than stock FLSTC) and still have the apes equal or below in height? Or do I need the tall windsheild?
06 FLSTI Question if I change from stock bars going to 12.5 apes can I use my existing set up cables, wiring ,etc.....
Thats a big negatory ghost rider. You will need to go to at least a set of +6 length cables, as well as extensions for your electrical wiring. You can go with Barnetts cables and save money over the HD ones.
Oh yeah, and be sure to post lots of pics of the bike afterwards. All of us here are ****** for pics of other members rides.
Thanks guys for all of your input..Im going with 16" Apes. I think that will fit me the best. I will post some pics of it when Im done in a couple of weeks. Thanks again!!

Indeed.. What he said.
Yep.. on all new cables.. Your project just got big.
You ever think you'd be pulling your exhaust to install handlebars? If it's covering your tranny side plate, you will in order to swap the clutch cable. hand bone connected to the arm bone, connected to the shoulder bone. So best I can tell, the tank gets to come off, the exhaust (probably), the tranny trap-door cover, the front brake line gets bled and replaced.. fun fun fun fun fun~
Agreeing also that from all I read +6 inches in the cables for 12's or 16's is the way to go. Unless I'm wrong about 12" bars.. I personally want to go with 12" bars so if I should go maybe +3" please let me know.
I have an '03 fatboy. I put Wild1 16" apes on, then took them off because I got a $150 ticket for hands above shoulders. I now have Wild1 12.5" apes. For the 16s, it's 10" over stock for the throttle and idle cables, and 8" over stock for the clutch cable. For the 12.5s, it's 6" over stock for the throttle and idle cables and 4" over stock for the clutch cable. I didn't have to take off my exhaust to by cutting down the allen wrench to get the tranny cover off.
