I got my Train with 5100 miles on it in February. Since then I have put another 1600 miles on it and MORE expected this summer if I can get to the Tail of the Dragon again. How many miles are you folks getting with your Trains on the stock tire? Mine is an 08, so if mileage doesn't claim it, old age will, but in another week or so, I will be putting 300 or so miles per week on my rig riding to the base and back all summer (93 mile round trip). All that starts June 18.
Ideas for a new tire (brand) are appreciated as well. I'm getting close to the wear bars now.
I think I got about 10k out of my stocker. I have since switched to the metzler ME 880 and love them. Night and day compared to the stocker, and I have about 8k on this one, prob about 2k left in it.
Only 8000 out of a Dunlop? From what I"ve seen in here, that's pretty short. A thread was going a couple weeks ago on this subject, might try to search it out. Lots of opinions, experience.
I think I get around 11,000 out of the rear stock tyre and 9,000 out of the front, trouble with the skinny front is that they tend to wear out quicker on one side because of road camber which doesn't seem to happen with wider tyres.
I have about 12k on my stock tires and could probably get to 14-15k easily but don't wanna risk it. Getting a new set soon.
SO.. since its a big secret about what Yr and what Ur bike is that Ur talking about here.
If Ur talking about U bike.? cause if not, My truck goes a 50K on its tires...
MAYBE U can tell a few of us (I wont tell anyone) what U have cause we don't have computertelevison and I can see what U have or what U are comparing U mileage too.
I got about 7000 on my first dunlop from the factory. then i replaced it with another dunlop and got 5000 on it but probably needed to replace it at 4000. I have a 07 fxstc and ride pretty hard. I just changed it again but this time i went with the night dragon from pirelli. Its also a 200mm tire which I am told they wear out faster.
