This sounds like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, I know because I have this condition in both hands. Here are the symptoms:
The most common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain felt in the fingers or, less commonly, in the palm. Symptoms most often occur in the parts of the hand supplied by the median nerve: the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and half of the ring finger. If your little finger is not affected, this may be a sign that the condition is carpal tunnel syndrome, because the little finger is usually controlled by a different nerve than the thumb and other fingers.
For severe symptoms there is surgery:
Carpal tunnel release surgery is used to reduce the pressure on the median nerve in the wrist. This is done by cutting the ligament that forms the top of the carpal tunnel. Cutting this ligament relieves pressure on the median nerve. Any other tissue (such as a tumor) that may be putting pressure on the median nerve can also be removed during surgery.
I, however, don't suggest "APES" as every member in my club is constantly shaking circulation back into there hands. I have semi-severe Carpul-Tunnel and it's the main reason I don't ride with APES.
Instead, I have Burley 1 1/4" Beachbars that look "Bitchin" and are super comfortable. They are 39 1/2" wide, or you may also consider the Bikini Bars @ 36 1/2" wide. Both sit very low, around $140.00 and have your elbows @ about 90 degrees. Great for your circulation.
I do agree with San Juan Ron that you should keep a relaxed grip. Might also consider the Throttle Boss for around $10.00 that fits onto any hand grip (JP Cycles and others). Good luck!!!
Hold your hands out without griping the bars. Notice your wrist angle, now grip the bars, notice how your wrist moves to a more binding position. I believe this restricts blood flow and pinches nerves especially with a tight grip. Move your bars up or down to try and change this wrist angle or replace bars. I replaced my stock lo bars with standard Fatboy bars, pulled them down alittle, just barely missing the tank while turned, 10,000 miles and no more hand tingles, I'm 5' 11"
I have this prob as well helps me to not curl my thumb under the grip but rest it on top with the rest of my fingers, a buddy who had this prob bought fatter grips and it cured the prob for him
Lots of good ideas offered here think I'll play with my bar positioning idk y that never occurred to me before
Try riding with a windshield, if you don't have one. I found that having the wind hitting me in the chest results in having to hold on tighter to the grips.
