Not sure about that Jim, when I read the manual and it said there was a cat I walked out to the bike and looked, wasn't obvious to me, so maybe I need to look a little closer and see where the sensor is. If I was gonna guess, the header.
My 2012 Heritage Softail has the cats in the mufflers, and I think the Softails all have the cats in the mufflers.
Look at your mufflers, if the say EPA that means the cats are in the muffs. I changed my slip-ons and I can see the cats in the stock mufflers that came off.
FWIW, I have Bassani 3" slip ons w/2" baffles on my new 2012 Heritage with a bit over 375 miles on it...per the dealer, the 2012 Heritage doesn't have cats . I plan to add a SE air intake/cleaner and a SE Pro Super Tuner w/dyno when I get to 1000 miles.
I'm getting some popping on decel due to it running leaner with the slip ons, but it doesn't feel like it's running any hotter than compared to the stock mufflers. It is almost too loud for my liking...quite a bit louder than the V&H Sideshots I had on my '09 Street Bob w/the V&H quiet baffles.

You're right...I just looked at my stock mufflers and the cats are in the mufflers.
Hey SBRob, on my 2012 Heritage I had the Stage 1, A/C, and Slip-Ons put on when I picked it up. It runs terrific I think, but only 165 miles so far. But, my oil temp gauge reads around 245 cruising, seems kinda hot. Do you think it will cool off with more miles or did the A/C and Slip-Ons really maybe make it too lean?

It might have made it too lean w/the stage 1 intake/ac and slip ons...I just did the slip ons only and will have it dyno tuned when I get the Stage 1 intake/ac added.
Mine doesn't seem to be running any hotter with just the slip ons added than compared to the stock mufflers for now, but I don't have an oil temp gauge to know for sure.
Well I checked mine this morning with a flashlight before I left for work and mine cannot be a cat unless they welded a metal plug in them, they look just like a plug with s few openings around the edge of it. The tech told me it was up in the header, I sure wish it was in the muffler like yours....
