My bike is a 2008.
Hopefully we are talking about the same thing...the rubber vibration dampener that is on the bottom of the shell. It sits against the bracket and the lamp.
I didn't use the rubber seal/gasket thing that comes with the LED lamp.
I rode for a while without the dampener and the light vibrated terribly. As soon as I put it in the vibrations calmed a lot.
Like I said, it's a tight fit, not exactly meant for the Crossbones I don't feel. Took me a while to get it all in there where I felt happy with it.

I have the LED light also. I used the supplied rubber O ring and like others have said, it is tight. In fact, the second night I had it the ring popped open. What had happened was the head of the screw went right through the loop on the ring. I banged it back down so the screw would pass though, then tightened it as much as I dared too. Over 4000 miles since, not a single problem.

Gotcha itz4me. I did the same thing minus moving the wires to the left. If you read the description it says some models may need a different bucket. It just seems to me that if the vibration rubber is naturally shaped for our stock headlamp then how could it fit the different style led which is flat. Am I to assume hd knew in 08 that the stock guts from my bucket would fit adequate enough to house it. I just think they could have done a better job engineering a perfect fit with optional pieces to make it so. Listen I'm not cheap or stupid. I put the headlight in per instructions. I would have bought optional parts had they been available or perscribed.

That is the stock dampener in mine...I followed the instructions, but it was just too tight a fit with the plug...which is the reason I removed it from the plastic loom. The only thing I didn't use was the rubber gasket.
