I've got to replace the rubber on my '02 Fat Boy. Currently have Avons. Haven't been that happy. Been thinking about Dunlap Elite 3s (or perhaps 402s). What's everyone's experience? Thanks.
I just did 17,000 miles on an E3 rear 140 width, which I had never come close too before, 10,000 miles as my average on the metzlers. I like how they ride and handle
I've always had Dun's 402 on my Fatboy, until I did research and learned the Michellin Commander was officially named a replacement tire for Harley (the only one). Put on a pair, gripped better in wet, seams to have a bit better wear (though only 1.5yrs. old) and have a softer feel.
They have now switched the tread pattern and call them the Commander II. I plan on these being my next pair. BTW, ridin' for 28 years and think these are the BEST for a softail/cruiser (less expensive, too). Good luck!!!!
If you want the 402's I'd suggest the 404's, they are virtually the same tire with a smooth sidewall and without the harley davidson wording which makes them a little cheaper too since they don't have to give harley their cut.
Also everyone has been saying they get better mileage out of the E3. But they are more $.
