So I recently hooked up some custom blinkers, and eliminated the tail light. Used a couple relays to get the whole thing working set. In using relays, must have been paying no attention but hooked up ground to wrong pin and when I went to try left blinker, backfed and must have blew soemthing. Checked fuses, one was bad so I switched it out and corrected wiring problem on relay. Tried Right blinker, works fine the way i expected it to, but the left still wouldnt work. When I turned bike off and back on, got three blinks out of right blinker, quickly as if it was throwing a code or soemthing. Naturaly though my TSM must have some malfunction so I went with a new one. Dropped it in, was told there was no procedure needed since it wasnt the TSSM model. Well nothing changed, still no left blinker, right still works fine, and I still get the three blinking lights randomly but not every time I turn it to on. Bike is an 03 FXSTBI, I'm running LED's and have a load equalizer since I run no fronts. If anyone could shed some light on this for me you would be doing me a great service. Dead in the water here as to what I should do or try next. Bike runs fine, starts and rides great, but if I'm going left I'm on my arm signals only. Frustrating. PLease lend me any help you can.
Bad switch maybe, relay perhaps? There are so many things in that circuit that could be bad, but most are shared with other systems. I would start with simple things like the bulbs.
I am a freaking Millwright/Sheetmetal/Welder by trade,, RETIRED...
I don't fudge with the ELC chit... in my line of work if some thing don't fit or work we always just got a BMFH.... Better know as a ( Big Mother Freaking Hammer) and forced it..
That why the ELC''s didn't call us with they needed help......Bahawaaahaaaa....
It's not the bulbs, they work fine as the brake and running lights, just getting no left blinker, no blinker indicator on the dash, and no sound at the relay as if it was clicking over. Not really bad at electrical stuff but perhaps this one was over my head. Checked the wiring at the switch, definitely working up at that end.
I've never had one myself, suiii15, but from what I've seen in here, that would be my guess.
BTW, I've seen a couple nicknames that start with suiii. Inform me please.
Well it's my initials. But I know that if you sound it out it's like a pig call, which is why, when it was my Vanity Plate, the local law enforcement was not a fan. the I's are since I am the third. Scott U III
