If it is pressed on there you will most certainly f that bearing up trying to get it off. Most likely destroy the seal too. Just go to any bearing supply house, or napa, and order a new set of bearings. They will be less than $40 and save you a huge headache and having t reorder anyways down the road.

Good God let's just beat the horse to death on this one. Damn!!! If you have to, you can reuse the old if they are good, just make sure you repack them with grease and keep them in the proper race. Or, you could just opt for a new set. Whichever you desire. No need to throw away a good set of bearings just because. Hell, that's a couple of tanks of gas. Trust me, I have been tearing down and building, rebuilding bikes for over 20 years and have reused many bearings with no problems.

BTW: These bearings are not a press fit and there is no seal to destroy. There is a very tight tolerance between the bearing inner race and the stem. Over time the bearing can become stuck on the stem but usually is not hard to get off.

Thanks for the replies guys, i picked up a new bearing locally. I have tried the new trees and found that the external fork stops are useless! The one side hits the steering lock and the other side allows the forks to go to far and there for they hit the tank. So i'm planning to use the pro one internal race stop

Can any one tell me if they have used this race puller in the photo below as i can not locate Jim's Neck Race tool here in the UK and did it work well?

If you have a mig welder and are pretty good with it, you can run a bead all the way around the inside of the existing race, and when the weld cools it shrinks the race enough so that it just pops right out. Just be careful, don't use too much heat, and tie a wet rag around the outside of the neck while you weld. I was skeptical about this method at first, but not wanting to spend the bucks on a race remover, I gave it a shot. Worked perfectly.
