Jim has been giving me some advice of late what to do about saddlebags. Also a 'Lo' down on how he painted his tins on his late Lo. Of course he tried encouraging me to pick up what's need and give it a try. Well long story short. While I went to the store to pick up some 400 paper to sand up a powder coat to spray can over, I saw a 40 psi continuous (90 psi max) air compressor on sale for half price. I never before sat and stared at a tool like that for well over 15 minutes....finally thought screw it, let's do this.
Also, after phoning Calvary they do not sell primer only bags atm and also no special orders....it's take it or leave it on the vivid black. Which I need denim black. Therefore now to start searching again for bags. Since it's going to take me awhile to get set up in the garage w/ a homemade spray booth (including regulated heat and filtered fan) I will keep my eye on ebay until then. I really like the round edges to Calvary bags and hate to spend extra cash on the paint. Also stripping down paint seems to be a pain in the ***. But if the price is right...might have to do it the hard way. Will see.
And if this goes well....hawt damn I got ideas. I was always curious what clear coat pin striping would look on denim black.
So I told the old lady my plans....once again she looks at me like I am a nut case about the bike:P
If Jim can do it...I can do it! Haha.
It's worth a try....it goes like crap, then I will chalk it up as a learning experience and some tools to go with it. Also a booth to redo powder coats when needed. Then spend $600 for a quickie job on bags.
If you let em hang out they just steal stuff anyway...hey, where did my wallet go?
Hahahaha!! Only RUBs pay for it!!
On a side note: I let 2 of em hang out one time. One of em lost her "unmentionables.". Then she accused me of stealing it! We spent 30 minutes looking for
It. She was gonna call in her "friend.". I was crapping my pants, but I wasn't wearing any!!! She finally gave up.
Hahahhaha!!! BEST PAIR OF PINK PANTIES I'VE EVER EARNED!
After staring at countless google pics last night...the cavalry smooth face bags it is. The smooth edges on the bags look best with the front fender being a bit rounded.
So it begins. Ordering some tours up this morning when their office opens.
Bags, cyclevisions bracket & Saddleman LED flush mount lights are now ordered.
Right after, I phoned an Indy painter that does bikes. I asked him what I need to do to strip down vivid black that the new bags come painted with. He said for $200 he can redo the clear coat to match denim black without a total repaint. Worth a try!
But still want to test out a different clear coat on different pieces for pinstriping effects myself and do my own touch ups down the road.
