Just hit post 1,000 and did not want to "waste" it on a post like "sweet pipes man" or "nice" lol. Anywho also wanted to share with you all a teaser pic of my "Homemade Heartland/RSD" project. I will be using a solo Corbin seat $75 that is an older seat that does in fact mount right up to the side bolts go where on the '06 and up strut bolt goes well now that I will be running bare struts I can use that hole for my seat for a clean seat mount no read tabs nice. I moved my ECM down between the splash gaurd fits perfect. I have on order a 9" wide trimmed rount top fender from Kustom Werks $193 shipped. When that comes in mark drill mount then off to paint for $100. Getting a side mount plate and light $ 70 and there is a perfect hole already on the strut horns for sigs to mount. here is a teaser pic of the seat on it. This is so much cheaper then the heartland or even the RSD options. Once I get the fender on I will make a build thread for anyone else interested in getting rid of the bobtail and not having to take out another loan to do so.
your old struts are steel you can section them and weld them back together to shorten them, then pc them black and you'll be all set. I had to shorten mine to fit the 09 glide fender setup I'm using.
Or you can make some out Al. like these I did a few years back.
you really cant see it but I shortened the 2 inches
Sweet setup Jakazz! Thanks for the idea. I was trying to come up with a way to use my stock covers but figure I will run bare horns with the new fender.
yea you can cut up the stock ones , I think they are @ 10 ga., easy to cut and weld, no warping. You can even move the blinker locations to fit. Wish I had taken pics to show you.
Sweet good to hear! Just need to find a welder now....I bet my local Indy can tack it quick for a few bucks. I'm getting even more pump about this project!
Well project will be delayed some all my sources for fenders are on back order so back to stock fender I go till winter I'm not wasting more ride time.
