Default Crossbone seat questions

Im looking to replace my stock sprung seat with the 1925 seat everyone says is so comfortable. Anyways what is the HD part nymber for the black one that bolts right on? The one on their site says 1940 style but it looks like the one I want.

Also does anyone know some options for getting rid of the ugly plastic cover? Am considering ordering the HD gloss one, but also was thinking leather.

When I swap the seats, can I use the same springs, or do I need to order another lwer set?

Thanks guys...Im learning alot cruising these forums.

The tractor seat is a direct bolt on. Take the mounting hardware and your springs from your stock seat and transfer them to the tractor seat. As far as the plastic cover, some people have painted it gloss. Make it looks a lot better. There are some metal ones out there but I'm not sure who sells them. This seat is incredibly comfortable.

Part # is 52004-25. The 25 at the end of the part number lets you know its the "1925 seat" even though the description stated says something about stepping back into the 1940's.

The seat is a direct bolt on and described above.

Paint your current seat pan gloss black if you don't like the plastic look or spend more money for a different one if you feel the need to.

Comfort is subjective and all depends on the person. Many people don't go for the sprung seat at all and replace their Crossbones seat with those ugly banana looking seats or the big pillowy ones. For me it is more comfortable because it sits me closer to the ground by about an inch. I also like these tractor seats because the nose is so narrow which also helps with the ground reach and doesn't make me feel like I am riding a walrus the way most other stock softail seats do. The fact that it is leather means I "stick" to the seat as apposed to sliding around on the stock vinyl seat. Although the padding is thinner, the seat is wide in the correct area where most of my weight is.
