Default engine guard

First thing I do to all my bikes is the engine guard. Catch some flack but it's my ride. Gives me a place to put extra pegs and lights; in rainy weather put chaps on them and helps deflect some moisture and deflects some cold; if the kick stand sinks and the bike falls over its easier to set back up cause you can just rock them up on the guards; and one of the best parts if you tip it over it saves the fuel tank from dings and scratches. You can also add some lights to the bars for better visibility. No brainer for me. Currently have them on Fatboy(Pearl); Dyna FXD; and a FXWG.

I would have to agree with the others who say engine guard. One bad drop without it and your out the cost of a light bar and the engine guard.

Neighbor dropped his new bike without engine guard a few weeks ago. Repair was less then his insurance deductible but still not good

Bent brake lever $80
Front brake light switch $65
Right Front Turn signal $60
Bent Handlebars $125
Broken right mirror $50
Cost of labor a few beers and a nice NY Strip on the BBQ for me.

Put the crash bars on first.

Got to go with the crash bars first. Pretty cheap and will save you a ton if she ever lays over. I picked up a set off ebay for around $135. They look great and bolted right up with zero problems. Took maybe 30 minutes tops.

Thanks for all the info, I guess Motor Guards and reflectors are gonna be first due to the points of saving $$ on paint and repairs. I dont plan on every laying it on its side or dropping it, but even the best laid plans dont always work.

Default tip overs

Ya I didn't plan on ever tipping mine over either but the first run I went on last year it happened. Went to a Hog rally in Fairbanks and due to having just had my knees replaced a few months earlier stayed in a motel down town instead of with my buddies at the fairgrounds cause I couldn't kneel worth a hoot. Anyway I was late for something, had the new Fatboy fired up ready to go it, I thought, when the wife called to ck up on me. Finished the call and took off with the neck lock locked. Duh, glad the other bikes that had gathered up there had taken off. Scuffed my new knee and when I fell off scuffed the tank a little with my boot. Mostly pride was bruised, me with 35 years riding experience and 4 bikes in the stable. I did fess up to the group and was good for a laugh.

definitely would do the crash bar before the light bar. find them on e-bay pretty cheap compared to your local HD dealer. Definitely not worth laying it over, especially if your a newer rider..
