Default handlebar advice?

I am looking to get some aftermarket bars for my '06 Deluxe. I like the ape hanger look but don't want to go to high. I am only 5' 7" and don't want to be stretched out to far. I need some ideas from the experts here. Traditional apes are alright but I also like the bars with the sharp 90 degree bends. thanks in advance!

Depending on your budget... but my favorites are Hawg Halters, Carlini, and BR customs will make specifically what you are looking for.

I know the height issue has been beaten to death. There are too many variables to consider. People have different builds... longer torsos, longer arms, etc... Also, bikes lowered, low profile seats, all those things factor in on bar height. You also have to figure angle people put there bars and pull back on the bars.

All those factor in for sure. a guy taller than 6 foot might not like anything higher than 12" apes. A shorter guy might like 18".

Hope I confused you. It is a matter of preference along with variables. I ride with 16" and I am 5ft 8in. Just a tad above shoulder for me and perfect.

good luck

At 5'7" I have always preferred the feel of 16" bars. But, I rode a buddie's bike that had 14" and they were actually fairly comfortable.

Todd's cycle 10" x 1.25" strippers on mine. 5-9 and love em. I have them rolled forward for the look and also to keep the same basic riding position I had with the drags. Hands are just about shoulder height where I have them, would probably be a little below shoulder if I rolled em back. Here's a couple pics:

Another thing to consider is the seat that you plan on using.

Well for now I just plan on staying with the stock seat on the deluxe. so I am looking for bars with the right height according for that seat. Also the HHI bars seem to be a good choice because the site says they are meant to work with stock harley controls. I am looking also for some cheap upgrades like headlight visors any input on those?

Another vote for 10" bars still look cool but don't spread your arms out to wide. Mine are shoulder height so I don't have any issues with the law either.

I have the Yaffe OEM monkey bars on this bike and my last one and cant say enough about the quality

Basically all bars will work with stock controls as long as they are dimpled and 1" on the ends for the controls. Drilled if you plan on running the wires internally. HD visor trim rings are not overly expensive. Or you can go on Ebay and purchase just the visor that attaches to the top.
