Default Springer Classic fender removal...

Every now and again I think of doing the paint on my '06 Springer Classic (the California Kid flame job in red/yellow/orange/black from the color shop/H-D catalog looks really cool!).....

Anyway, I've removed the tank before and that was easy- can the fenders be removed without taking the wheels off or doing any other major jobs? The front fender on the classic has the mounting arms that run straight down to the axle, and just by loking at it I couldn't tell if axle removal was a necessity.

Thanks!

Carl

The rear fender can be removed but the front has to come apart for it to come away from the forks.

You'll have to pull the front wheel & caliper to pull a classic front fender. You have to jockey it just right. Cover it with cloth to prevent scratches.

Ok, thanks for the input, I appreciate it. It'll give me something to contemplate if I choose to pull everything apart.

Just going by the manual. They have illustrations on how it comes out. You can try it, it's not my paint or bike.Good luck.
