Default slim windshield

Hello from south africa again. I ride a softail deuce 2003. Long rideswithout a screen are not nice. I am looking at various options but can't seem to find a slim design. Most are rather wide. Can anyone give me some suggestions.thanx

Windvest...you will love it. It is perfect. It is not cheap. It is worth every penny.

Default My two cents

How's this somewhat homemade shield? It was cobbed together from the billet bracket off a Windvest. Then I took a blank replacement plastic from Memphis Shades "Demon" in clear and back painted it with special paint that sticks to acrylic. I found a reverse mounted decal and stuck that on before I hit it with the paint.

I tried a Windvest but it increased the buffeting and was worse than no shield. I know some guys swear by them but a shield is something of hit or miss IMHO. But the hardware was gorgeous so I hung on to it. Later I came up with my "homemade" idea. It matters a LOT how high your shield goes. Until I drilled the fourth set of holes and pushed it up as high as possible the buffeting was too much.

I am talking about "buffeting" not regular old turbulence. Wind turbulence is what I call random light wind noise that you can tune out within seconds. Buffeting is what I call the feeling that a cat has your head in between his paws and he is playing with it batting it back and forth as hard as he can. Buffeting can not be ignored.

Most shields cause buffeting. They push your entire body around ***** nilly. So it takes either extraordinary good luck or a shield you don't mind experimenting with for several months moving it every which way.

In my case I can now drive all day (10 hours) at 75-80 and that was my goal.

Hope I have been of some help. A good shield setup completely transforms a bike into an all day Road Bike.
