This thing sounds like it has a gear drive. Been getting progressively louder.
I took it in and decided to have them go into the motor as it sounded bad. The tech agreed it sounded wrong. The found a balancer bearing that was suspect. Checked and replaced all the bearings, including crank bearings. Replaced the balancer assembly, all the tensioner shoes etc. I have it back now and it runs great. The noise is still there. Sr. tech says he has heard all levels of this noise from not evident to holy ****! Mine is in between. He says its not an issue. Anyone else have this damn noise? Its making me nuts.
I had a funny noise in that area that turned out to be a loose compensator nut. But if they had your bike apart they would have solved that problem when they re-torqued everything...
My counter balancer gear spun on my crankshaft and I had the bottom end rebuilt. I can hear them spinning at idle, but I think it's just because I am more aware of what's going on down there than I was before. A welded and balanced crank made such a difference.
