Guys I would appreciate any help I can get, I am about to go crazy trying to figure this out. I have a 2005 Softail Heritage Classic. I am attempting to install a set on HD Chrome Wind Deflectors, but I am having absolutly no luck. HD's instructions state that neither the windshield or the turn signals should be touching the wind deflectors when installed correctly. I have follwing the instruction to a T but I can not get the deflectors adjusted so that the turn signals are not in the way. If the deflectors were just barely touching the turn signals I could live with it, but this is not the case. They are so tight of a fit that the deflectors are actually pushing forward on the turn signal housing. I figure that there will be some damage if I leave them fitting that tight, so I have took them loose until I am able to find a answer. I have consulted the sorry owners manual and it doesn't mention anywere about adjusting the turn signal / passing lamps on a FLSTC. There appears to be a pivot in between the passing lamps & turn signal, but once again I can not find a bolt to loosen so that I am able to adjust the turn signal. If any of you have any advice please help me out. Thanks
RE: NEED HELP...Lighting adjustment & wind deflectors
Hey fedfuzz79. I too have an 05 Heritage Classic and I installed the wind deflectors. Only problem with my install was that I threw away the instructions when I took the deflectors out of the box at the dealership so they would fit in my brother-in-laws tour bag. [:@] So, I had to ask someone here that has them on which way the bolts/washers/rubber mountshould go on. Now, my deflectors barely touch the back of my turn signals and I've had them on for about 5 months and I hear no "vibration noise" coming from them. I also did not have to make any adjustments to the turn signals.
Here's how I have my mounting hardware attached if you are looking at the front of the bike from the fork to the deflector:
Spacer
Light Mount Bracket
Washer
Rubber Mount (for windshield)
Deflector
Washer
Take alook at my Photo Gallery to see some pics of the deflectors. Let me know if this helps.
RE: NEED HELP...Lighting adjustment & wind deflectors
I just bought a set of the wind deflectors for my 2003 Heritage Classic. I am getting the same thing with interference between the turn signals and the deflectors. The only options I see are to either elongate the holes which is inviting rust issues or to bend the deflector to miss the lamps which I don't like at all. I am even considering taking the route that 69shark used and mounting them to my windshield.
RE: NEED HELP...Lighting adjustment & wind deflectors
This is what I done ,I held the turn signal with one hand and turned the passing lamp counterclockwise with the other hand then its loose enough to adjust the signal forward then it should fit.

I don't get it either. Yes, they are the HD units brand new from the box pn 58125-90B. I would sure like to figure out the difference betweent the bikes (or deflectors) that go on easy and those that just don't fil.

the difference in bikes is hd just throws these bikes together quickly and the lighting, signals, etc is not adjusted the same on all thier bikes. so to get the deflectors to work you might have to adjust the signals forward.

Thanks short. I just didn't think that there would be that much adjustment available in the mounting holes for the passing lamps/turn signals. I will try this before elongating the mounting holes in the deflectors. Thanks.
Fedfuzz, let us know if you try this and find it helpful. I probably wont get to mine again until next week.
