Default Problem installing mustang seat

Hi guys, I just bought a 2002 Deuce about a month ago and I love it however I have a small problem I need help with please.
It currently has an arlen ness slam kit and its lowered about 2" and has a beautiful Corbin solo seat. The combination of lowered/harder shocks with the less than comfortable corbin seat makes my long rides a pain......literally!
So I figured I'd buy myself a nice mustang solo seat to make it more comfortable. Here's where the problem is.......when I hook the welded steel nose tab on the front of the seat to the frame mount behind the gas tank just like the corbin seat.....the two side brackets that should simply slide into place with the fender struts don't align properly. They sit back/behind the bracket slot by about 1/2" and therefore I can't put the bolt back in and lock it in place.
Also, the ecm seems to be hitting the underside of the mustang seat, again, preventing the insertion of the see brackets!!!!!
My question is, would the fact that the bike was lowered be causing these problems? I got the impression that because the shocks are under the bike that the rear fender wouldn't move if the bike is lowered but this is my first Harley so I'm not sure.
ANY help on this situation would be greatly appreciated!

First, and not to be an ***, do you have a correct seat for a Deuce? And do you have the tongue inserted correctly in the front mount, as some seats when new require a bit of work to get them to fit correctly. A 1/2 inch isn't a lot, so you might have to wiggle it in a bit. I'm no Deuce expert, but have seen this happen in here before. and, no, the lowering shouldn't be creating this problem. And welcome to the Forum!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I'm positive I have a seat for a deuce. The instructions say it is, so does the box, plus I picked the seat on the mustang seats site and ordered it from cruisercustomizing.com with the mustang part number. I'm quite sure the tongue is in properly and I understand that it may need some work to get in a new seat but the ecm is literally scraping the underside of the seat.
I'll have another go at it again tomorrow but I'm afraid to damage the ecm with unnecessary force trying to get the seat on.

Once you get the tongue in correctly, I don't think the ecm will be a problem. It's hitting now cuz it isn't far enough forward. Patience is the key here.

You'll be thankful for the tight fit once you get it installed. Mustang seats are notoriously tight fitting when they are new. I agree with RANGER73....WIGGLE and PUSH is the name of the game. Welcome to the addiction...I mean forum! Post up some pics when yo get the seat mounted.

I have spoken to one of our techs that is currently working in Sturgis, and they suggested you contact them if you are still having problems with the installation of your Mustang seat. I will pm you the telephone number they can be reached at during the rally.

I JUST put this seat on my 2001 Deuce a few weeks ago and I was really pissed off at first thinking there was no way in hell it was gonna fit. The holes were about 1/2 inch off just like yours. It WILL go on and it would certainly be a lot easier if you could have someone push from the back while you get the bolts in there. As it was, I ended up getting it to go on there just fine but it was a bit of a pain in the ***. I really had to compress it in the front way more than I'd expected but, as was said, I think it'll be a good thing in the long run that it's so snug.

Well how stupid do I feel now! Liberator, I'm glad I wasn't the only person thinking it was all going wrong.
Guys you were all correct all I needed to do was push forward hard and have my buddy put a little extra weight on it to hold it.
She's sitting nice and snug and I took her for a spin around the block and I IMMEDIATELY noticed a difference in the ride quality!!! I'm cleaning my Wimmer intake filter today so I'll go on a nice long ride later when its dried out.
I can't wait!!!!!
