If you're like me, new is always worth more $$. Something about knowing you're the first person to own it. It's not a rationale decision, pure emotion. Now one thing I learned when I got my 2007 Deluxe, it doesn't really boogie till you change out the air cleaner and get new pipes. And don't forget the SERT or PC and reset the ECM maps. Seems a shame you'll need to spend more money after you pay for the bike, but that's just the way it is. And that's just getting started. But I expect you already know all that. Good luck, I'm sure you'll love it. And that other guy was right about 6th gear, never use it till I'm hitting 70.
Should motor size be a reason to go 07 -- only you can decide.
The 6 Speed... who cares...
The six speed is definetely a major plus.....how many times on my '04 Nighttrain I wished I had just one more gear when cruising.......rpm is down, vibration is less and the bike just humms...love it!!!

Very wise suggestion!
Wow, you guys get hosed big time over there. When converted at 1.97:1 your paying $26479.00 for a bone stock 2007 Fatboy and $33534.69 for the 2006 with lots ofextras.Your probably coming close to paying full retail for the '06 and the extras. But it sounds like a nice bike, it would probably take awile to get the '07 to look as good. The only way to figure out what kind of deal your getting is to go through the catalog and total up the retail price of all the parts. Then call around and see if you can find a 2006 Fatboy to find out what kind of discounts (if any)they are giving on the older models. Remember the labor to install all the new parts since they are already on the bike.
Make the decision based on what you want - if you want the 07 get it! As was mentioned earlier, there will always be another "great new thing" to be had. I've got an 06 Heritage Softail Classic and I love it. Would the bigger engine and 6 spd be nice -- on these southern california freeways I wish I had one more gear, but you get used to the hum at 75 pretty quick! As for me, getting ready to do the stage I with Rush mufflers, K&N a/c and PC III. Fuelmotousa.com had a great combo price for all the goods...!
