Not sure what he used, but I used the Rustoleum satin black high temp paint. Took longer to tape everything up than to paint it! Well worth it though. Best part is It's been over a year, about 4k miles and no chips. I did put quite a few coats though.

Thanks all! The covers were powder coated gloss black. There is enough black to make you miss the silver. Plus, the contrast looks better than all black in my opinion.
The next project is a 2010 FLTRX that I just bought last month. It was bone stock with 421 miles on it....I also have a 1992 FXR with 8k miles that is torn down now getting the murdered job done to it. There will be no frame mods done to this bike!!! That **** kills me since these are getting harder to find.
