Well I had my bike custom tuned today and all I can say is WOW. The baseline was 66.4 hp and 90.0 ft lbs. After the tune it dynoed at 76.7 hp and 100.6 ft lbs. I think that is great, but really doesn't tell the story as the drivability is so much better. It makes 30 more ft lbs at 2,000 rpm. The annoying decell popping is gone, it runs cooler, better throttle response at any rpm, it pretty much woke up the engine. It runs so good now I'm going to put off cams till next year. In addidtion, the tuner had very nice things to say about the 103 engine. Think I take the bike out for a ride.
Sounds like a great result and a large gain in Torque. I just picked mine up today after a custom tune. I already had V&H longshots and a download from the dealer. I had a lot of popping and figured it was lean A/F. My baseline was 68.76 HP and 90.32 torque with A/F running between 12-12.8. Indy used a Screamin Eagle Super Tuner. End result is 77.37 HP and 93.72 TQ with A/F running pretty steady 13 all the way to 5K. I see no noticable difference in the popping which is dissapointing. The bike is a 12' heritage.
I am thinking of taking mine in to a local indy, and I know my question is location specific, but what did these tunes cost you?
I don't mind the canned map I have from powerVision but it'd be cool to say I am running a custom tune.
Mine was very expensive, but I heard good things about him so it was worth it to me. I could have had mey local dealer do it for half the price. Cost me $395.00. He was very thouough; changed my spark plugs, cleaned my air filter (wasn't really dirty) and spent about two hours on the dyno, three hours total.
