Are you switching because Mobile 1 is cheaper or have you heard good things about it?
Mobil 1 is one of the better synthetics on the market and its actually put into some new cars (car formula) like Z06/7 Vettes, Vipers, etc. and bikes (V-Twin) like the Bourget at the factory. It actually has "Mobile 1" painted, printed or engraved on the oil caps.
The other reason is that the oils form Harley are all made for them by Cytgo, and I'm not too big a fan of that comapny since it isowned by the Venezuelan government, and theidiot who runs that contry (and company) is the same clownwho made aspeach at the UN saying that pres. Bush was the devil himself.
Whether I agree with what "our" government does or not is imaterial. I just don't like some two bit dictator telling me where to get off. Idiot wouldn't last 10 minutes in office if the US hadn't been protecting his country's sorry butt for the past 100 years.
As for the bike - every 2500 miles no matter what kind of oil.
To Dave:
As a 25+ yr veteran BMW mechanic, I would NEVERleave oil in my engine for 15000 miles no matter what BMW/the dealer says. Change it yourself, keep receipts, or take it somewhere and have it done at least every 7500 miles. I've seen engines that were totally sludged up(stopped up oil pumps)in cars where people went by that German bible (aka owners manual).
Understood. Had I owned the car, I probably would have looked into it a little deeper. But it was a lease and still under warranty when I gave the keys back, so I didn't think too much about it.

When I bought my current bike in October of 2005, I purchased a VIP service package. For 1900.00, they change the oil, and perform all factory recommended checks every 2500 miles for 3 years. This works great for me, but not for everyone. heck,...they Lose money on me due to the miles I ride (16,000) last summer alone.
I won't buy this for the wifes bike, she doesn't ride enough to be worth while, Hers will be done every 2500 miles by a good and trusted mechanic buddy of mine..
WTF is it with these dealers? I hear more and more of these stories. Years ago, they were the authority on Harley Davidson, now they are just ****** for MOCO. Their "stores" apperals department is larger than the showroom sellling everything from coffee to underware..
