Well, I wouldn't go with the H-D map. OCT1949 has a recommendation on the H-D maps that would work better than the basic re-map. Or, if you're not going to do more to the engine, you could go with a Dobeck DFO tuner for $175. They are very easy to use. Had one myself and loved it. Just more stuff to think about, LOL!

Is the Dobeck a unit that stays on the bike, or do you just plug it in, load the map and unplug it?

Power Vision is the way to go! http://www.dynojet.com/powervision/ You can tune the bike yourself, not just used pre programmed maps. You load a map that is as close to your setup as possible then do a tuning run. You take the unit off your bike and attach it to your computer which TUNES the bike to your exact conditions and then reflash the ecu. You can even have more than one tune (ie. one for one up riding and one for two up riding). And any time you make any changes, pipes, cams etc. you can retune. If you buy the unit from Fuel Moto they have tons and tons of tunes and outstanding support. http://www.fuelmotousa.com/harleymain.htm

Very basically. Without getting into tech crap. JMHO.
+1 - Nice simple explanation, without all the mumbo-jumbo.
