I've owned both...A Rocker C with apes and other mods and I'm on my second Night Train. If I didn't have to haul a passenger, the Rocker C would be the way to go...
If you wanna be a rebel go with the Rocker- every Harley guy I know locally hates them, which is kinda fun :-). I only found that out after buying mine; it makes for fun ribbin' over bikes now... But all the Harley GIRLS love mine!
I am going to get flamed for this, but here goes....
I was at the Sturgis Rally last week and stopped by the demo tent one day. Rode a few bikes, and my buddy wasn't ready to leave, so I hopped on a VROD, never having ridden one before. I used to not like them, looked uncomfortable, didn't think it would handle well...etc etc... And then I rode it. Good lord I am sold for when I am able to have a bar hopper and a cruiser, that VROD was a blast to drive, made great power, easy to manuever, and wasn't near as uncomfortable as I expected.
I love my Rocker-C. Harleys way of getting between standard Harley and a chopper. Tank lift is a must and apes or zbars. Never cared for the Night Train. I'd rather have a blackline for that matter. Haha.
