I bought a PC3 from Jamie at FuelMoto a couple weeks ago. I installed it and didn't really notice much. The bike still has a little backfiring on decel. Thats not my biggest gripe though. If I rev the engine from idle it will start to rev up then stutter then continue to rev. Its really annoying and I can't take off anymore from 0 throttle like I used to or it will almost stall because its stuttering.
My setup is the following:
Rush 2" baffle slip-ons
SE Air Cleaner kit
HD "download" or ECU reprogram
Torque smoothing service update
PC3
The bike was running fine without the PC3 but from reading posts on the forums about decel popping and how great the PC3 was I decided to get one.
The stuttering was really bad with the pre-canned map that I got loaded from FuelMoto. Since then I have installed the SE Slip-on map (#8 from the 07 softail page) from the PC3 site. Switching mapshas reduced the stuttering, but its still there.
Is there some sort of exhaust valve in the 07 Fatboy head pipe that could cause this?
Does anyone have any suggestions for me because you might be seeing a 07 PC3 in the Parts for Sale Forum real soon.
You just don't have the right map setup. What map do you have installed right now? If you don't want to do the guess work yourself take it to a authorized Powercommander shop with a dyno and they will dial it in exact for you. Local shops here charge around $175 - $200 for a custom map. They will get your air fuel mixtureoptimal at each RPM and throttle position.
For the pops on decel add 20 to the 0 throttle at all RPM ranges from 1500 - 5500. That should take the pops out. Also make sure that you do not have a exhaust leak at all. This can cause some popping and other issues. If you have an exhaust leak and don't fix it you will never get the map right.
Go to the Power Commander website. You can email them, tech section, for help. Let them know what setup you have. These guys are more than willing to help with any problems you are having. It's just a matter of installing the RIGHT map for your setup. They emailed me the map I should have been using and then had me make some finer adjustments . Bike runs great now. What others have said should be done. All I can add is that I have an 07 and I plan on using one of the auto tune units with wide-band 02 sensors. I just don't see the logicin eliminating the one thing that can tell your computerwhat isreally going on in the combustion chamber. I ran a PCIII on my 05 and loved it (along with V&H pipes and a Hyper Charger) but the new EFI systems, IMO, are beyond the PCIII's level of tech.

RE: Not Happy with PC3
When I had the Rush 2.0 mufflers on my bike, I used the m813-008 Screamin' Eagle slip-ons map and it ran fine. As suggested, also check to make sure that your throttle is zeroed. When I checked mine, it was at 7% when at idle.
Regarding sensors, wide-band sensors are wonderful, but narrow-band ones are ****-poor substitutes and their absence is no loss. If you want to really know what is going on in the combustion chamber as suggested, use a wide-band sensor either installed or on via a dyno-tune. This goes for cars as well as motorcycles.
FACTION95, I like you bought a PCIII from Fuel Moto. The MAP they loaded did not do anything to improved the bike in fact it made the bike worst. However, in all fairness I was not expecting it to much. You must run your bike on a Dyno to see results of chnges. I have a Dynojet Tuning guy 4 miles down the road. Run the bike prior to dyno jet ( just disconnect it) and run the bike after Dyno Jet tuning. Then make your judgement from there.
I am on the fence about the benifit. Where I have the bike's air/fuel right now gives me almost 80 HP and 94.5 Ft LB of torque. Respectable for not tearing the motor apart. The first map I got from fuel moto had lean conditions and ignition timing changes. I loaded Dyno Jets 004 MAP for 07 softailsintoECM and that is where we started the tuning process from. What the unit does do for me is if I do any other mods from where I am with the bike presently,I know what the MAP looks like.
They should have a section in this forum for sharing fuel MAPS for the power PCIII and other units.
