My 2002 Night Train has a carb. It idles and sounds completely differently than my 2012 Ultra. The difference is the EFI. Both motors are twin cams, but the old night train sounds....... better.
Now that is the sound i like and i don't have...I am currently looking for a carbed bike for me and that my wife can ride also...My price range right now doesn't allow for what i want so i will wait a bit.
Get over what? I'm looking at a 2006 carb fat boy.
The twin cams just idles too high, need to for oil pressure. The carb is better but the only TC I've heard that sound like a hot rod had $11,000 in the engine. Not to say it can't be done for less, but you gotta have at least do cams to get the lop.

Tx. I was gonna wait till this one is paid off in the next year or so and I can add the fat boy. I figured the prices will only get lower over time. I just wanted to make sure it was the carb that was making the sound.
I didn't know cams would come close to that sound though. Food for thought.
Cams in a Twin Cam (EFI) will sound good IMO (I actually like the sound of the Twin Cam), but still won't give you that low idle potato potato sound of a carbed bike.
