I keep reading about these Commander II's, but I switched to the Dunlop E3's my last 2 sets, went to a 140 width in the rear, and I got 17,000 out of the 1st one. That's compared to 10,000 on the Metz's and 8,000 on the original DL. I am at 7,000 on this rear and still going strong
Have them on wifes deluxe. 5,000 mi and tires still look new. Tires have great traction in the rain and hot pavement. So far best $232.00 dollars I have spent for
two tires.
How on earth are all of you getting such good mileage?? Also, I don't bang the downshifts. As was said, the sidewalls only list max pressure and Michelin told me to go with the manufacurers listed pressure. Another thing I found interesting is the front wore out at the same rate as the rear.

I can't say what the difference might be but something as radical as the difference between your experience and mine must have a cause or set of causes... I don't ride two up and I use 38 front and 42 rear. The Dunlop Elites should do the same... the compound is different in these newer tires and should last longer.
There will be an article in AIM in the near future I think... you might take a look at it.
I'm with you wiktor, how are they getting this kind of milage? I also have a 11 Fatboy Lo and am on my fourth rear tire in 12k. Have never done a burnout and drive like Grandma half the time. Do pack some weight when traveling but am really tired of the cost and inconvenience. You can't really go anywhere without a change. Getting ready to head for Sturgis so ordered a Commander11 and then had a change of heart and strapped on a car tire-205/55R 17 General. This I can say they corner better; stop better; and have at least half their tread left at 5900 miles. Buttttttt they are the rutt chasingest tire I've ever used. Felt like a pingpong ball on a rutted road or one that had fresh chips. They also work you pretty hard holding them in corners though they stick like glue and if your not up to speed on a hwy with a super ya get a workout. They are very smooth. If someone comes up with a rear tire I can get 10k out of I'll change back in a heart beat but till then guess I'll be a pingpong ball.
